Arisaema kiushianum

A curious Japanese species that flowers just above ground level, but don't let that fool you, this is one remarkable jack-in-the-pulpit (one of our favorites, if you can't tell). The flower can have yellow webbing and striped with deep red, with broadly recurved mouth margins and a upward jutting tail-like appendage from inside the flower. The plant has one main jade green leaf with 7-13 leaflets that are oblong and arch downward as leaf unfolds. Offsets quite rapidly from the main bulb. Rock hardy in our zone 5 garden. Easy and reliable. Honestly, this can also be a fantastic potted jack as the flower is just a ground level and containerized can be readily appreciated.
